thursday's studio/kitchen makings..

today, i went to britex in downtown san fran and purchased a lovely, italian stretch lace for this top...to be worn by a friend for her son's bar mitzvah.
then,..i went to the less snazzy 'fabrix' on clement street for my daughter's ruby-red fabric she requested for her prom dress. will post that pic when it's completed.
THEN, went down the street to maywah, my favorite asian food store where 2 large bags of groceries cost $18.50.  i made a family favorite dinner of spring rolls;  an easy, healthy, weeknight treat,..below is 'fried' (saute'd till golden) tofu in sesame oil and green onions. this takes about 10 minutes total. sprinkle with soy sauce when done.
a combination of thai basil (regular will do, but the thai has more of a bite..), spouts, (any kind will work), rice stick noodles (whole foods carries these now, if you are not near an asian market), and whatever else you might want to toss in.(cucumber, shredded carrot, lettuce, etc.) the dipping sauce is key. hoisin sauce (again, a whole foods item ) with peanut better stirred in. (tip-add peanut butter to hot water to 'melt' it, then stir in the hoisin. the ratio being  1 to 5, peanut butter to hoisin. add your desired, prepped ingredients and roll it like a  burrito in soaked rice paper. i leave out a round baking dish of warm water to soak the rice papers as you go.
voila.
